Many gardeners often startunderstand that watering the garden gradually begins to turn from pleasure into a routine duty, which takes a lot of valuable time. In such a situation, the automatic irrigation system becomes an excellent way out. Of course, not everyone can afford to purchase such a ready-made system offered in specialized stores, but if there is a desire and at least some hands-on skills, then it is quite possible to design and build an automatic watering on the plot with your own hands.
Create automatic watering on your own, inIn principle, it is not very difficult, all components without any problems can be purchased in a shop for gardeners, and it will be much cheaper than buying a ready-made system. However, it is necessary to approach the process of creating a system responsibly, carefully considering all the factors involved. Develop a system plan
To get started, you need to draw a schematicthe plot plan, on which the scale (optimally 1: 100, where 1 cm corresponds to 1 m) draw all buildings, as well as beds, beds and trees. Thus, the required irrigation zones will be immediately visible. In addition, the water supply point should also be noted on the diagram. Knowing the range of the sprinklers offered for sale, it is possible to arrange them according to the scheme so that irrigation is carried out on all the necessary areas. By the way, it is best of all that the irrigation lines are approximately equal in length - this will ensure uniform pressure distribution over all sprinklers, therefore it is recommended to place the water inlet point in the center of the system. Naturally, this will not always work out, therefore (in case of impossibility) it will be necessary to take into account a slight decrease in the radius of irrigation from distant sprinklers.

Choosing a watering method
The entire area designated for irrigation can besplit into several zones, for each of which it is better to provide different sprinklers. So, watering the lawn optimally carry out sliding devices located directly in the ground. In a non-working state, they will be almost imperceptible and will not spoil the look of the lawn, and also will not interfere with grass cutting. As soon as the water starts to flow into them, they will rise, and at the end of the watering cycle they will lower.

But the area where the trees are located andbeds, it is not recommended to water in this way, usually the width of the beds does not exceed 2 meters, and sufficiently high plantings will interfere with the work of sprinklers. Therefore, the best way out would be to use automatic drip irrigation in such places, which is a special pipe in which evenly spaced holes are drilled. When laying such a pipe along the bed axis or diving it into the ground to a shallow depth, irrigation of the soil will be provided for approximately 30 centimeters on each side, i.e., a strip of about 60 cm will be moistened. , above the ground. However, it should be borne in mind that if the water contains many minerals or iron, then microgaders will often become clogged. In addition, the drip system is practically not noticeable, and microgliders are clearly visible.
It is better to carry out automatic watering of flowers in flower beds by sprinklers, because wetting of the soil is not enough for them; spraying of leaves and inflorescences is required.
Drawing up an exact scheme of the irrigation system
There are already places on the site plan.the proposed placement of sprinklers and compasses delineated the areas they cover. After that, the automatic irrigation system is designed in the following sequence:
sprinklers installed at corners (coverage area 900) are marked;
sprinklers installed on the sides of the site (coverage area of 1800) are marked;

Calculation of irrigation scheme

Near to input they will work normally, and distant ones will only gradually feed water. Therefore, it may be necessary to construct several watering lines that work alternately and provide automatic watering of the plants on the entire available area.
Determine your water supplyWith a plumbing system, simply pick up a ten-liter bucket and record the time of its filling with a stopwatch. Well, the required amount of water consumed is calculated by summing the values specified in the instructions for each sprinkler.
In addition, be sure to keep in mind that the drip line will require a different water flow and separate management, because it will have to be turned on for a longer time (about 1 hour per day).
Having finished the design, we choose the programmablea controller that provides the job time of individual irrigation lines. In addition, you need to pick and shut-off valves, one for each line. As an additional element, the automatic irrigation system may include a rain sensor that turns off irrigation when precipitation begins.
After assembly, the system must be configured. For this, the automatic valves are alternately set to manual mode, and the sprinklers are regulated on the switched on line. Adjust the drip line is not necessary. After that, the control controller is programmed and the system is ready for operation without human intervention.
